The Open…

Last Saturday saw our Gents Open take place. Always a stand-out fixture in the calendar and thankfully the day didn't disappoint! In the days leading up to The Open the weather forecast was terrible, however despite rain throughout the night on Friday, come first thing Saturday morning the rain cleared and up until around the back of 4 we had a cracking day for it. The latest starters had to endure some heavy rain to finish but all in all it turned out to be a brilliant day, with some excellent feedback regarding the course.

Ally and The Team had the course looking absolutely superb and to be honest it wasn't only for The Open, it has been looking great for weeks now.

In the Scratch section the winner was Jamie Beedie from Montrose with a cracking 68! Then we had 2 Artisans in 2nd and 3rd place with Alex Cargill 70 and Steven Cargill 71.

In the overall Handicap Section were two phenomenal nett 62s with John Ross Watt pipping John Walls on the back 9.

There were a whole host of other prizes which are in the listed in the pics attached.

There wont be many happier participants than John Borthwick who won the nearest the pin prize at the 7th hole, sponsored by mark Drummond of PD Cars. Mark very kindly continued his support of the event. This year would have been Marks Dads 100th birthday and he very kindly upped the prize to £1000 for a hole in 1 and £500 for nearest the pin! John was 15" away from the hole in 1 prize but was very grateful for the nearest the pin prize! Thanks again Mark, much appreciated.

This week we are onto the Seniors Open which will likely be completed by the time you are reading this! All the best to those taking part.
