Sometimes we get so familiar with the gear we’re using, we forget why it’s important in the first place.

Consider all the pieces you put together in preparation for a round of golf at this time of year. Clubs cleaned? Check. Waterproof clothing and handwarmers? Check. Umbrellas and towels at the ready? Plenty of balls and tees packed? You no doubt run through a mental list in your mind before you even leave the house.

We do all this to ensure we have a safe and enjoyable time when we’re out on the golf course. Wearing a polo and shorts is perfectly ideal in the summer months, but in December you’re going to need a dedicated waterproof jacket to keep you happy when it’s cold and the falling rain will soon get you drenched.

The same logic applies to gloves, an often overlooked after thought is whether you’re using the best glove for your game. Consider how cold it gets when you’re in your car driving at this time of year. You’re reaching for your driving gloves from the glove box each time you get in the car to ensure your hands are snug and comfy as you get to your destination.

Gloves are perfect for keeping the cold at bay, but when it comes to golf, you’ve got to be wearing the best gear for the climate. Do you really want to be making use a lovely, soft, leather glove when it’s cold and raining? Today we want to illustrate to you the value of weather-hardy golf gloves.

Golf gloves do more than keep you warm

While yes, golf gloves do keep you warm, they’re specifically crafted to help you play better golf in cold and wet conditions. Primarily crafted from a stretchy lightweight polyamide, our range of FootJoy gloves are flexible to give your fingers plenty of mobility while being skin-tight, ensuring each section of your hand stays thermally well-circulated throughout wear.

The finger and palm sections of these gloves are strategically padded with grippy sections that are specifically designed to grip golf club grip rubber well and not lose traction throughout your swing. So even if your grip is damp with the rain, you’ll still have confidence in your gear to help you pull off the perfect shot.

Take a moment to think about when you’ve been playing golf in particularly cold weather. Have you ever thinned a shot when the temperature is close to freezing? It can sting horrendously and you’ll be feeling it long after you’ve finished the hole you’re on.

That painful feeling can certainly be avoided if you’re wearing gloves that are built for the cold weather in the first place. When you’re out the car and heading to the first tee, you’ll feel the cold biting at your fingertips, but that feeling of discomfort is instantly remedied when you slip on your durable winter golf gloves.

FootJoy's thermal retention is second to none. When you wear these golf gloves your fingers will feel fresh from your wrist right through to your fingertips. The last thing you’d want is to thin your ball and feel it stinging in your fingers on a frosty cold morning!

The FootJoy RainGrip gloves will give you exceptional grip in all weather conditions. This glove features QuickDry, a knit material that runs along the back of the fingers and offers the wearer both breathability and quick-drying comfort. The palm section of the glove is made from an Autosuede knit that offers a secure grip in wet weather conditions. So essentially, the rain will run off the back of your fingers, while the palm retains a strong connection with your golf grips. The RainGrip glove also has a secure velcro fastening and comes with a removable ball marker included.

Perfect for playing golf in the cold, the WinterSof golf gloves from FootJoy are made from a waterproof nylon and features a weather-shield foam fleece on the back to retain heat. This glove similarly has an Autosuede knit palm, so whether the forecast is calling for a frosty chill or a downpour of rain, you’ll retain a strong connection with your golf grips all round long. A nice touch from FootJoy, this glove also has high contrast reflective piping to give you greater visibility over your grip and hand alignment. The extended knit cuffs also helps trap warmth at the wrist.
