What better way to start the newsletter than with a good news story with not one, not two but THREE holes in one this past week!
Ewan Rae was the first with an ace at the 4th hole (Ewans 10th overal!) then on Saturday, there were two in the same day on the same hole! Mark Pritchard and Pete Herron both managed the feat whilst taking part in the Grant Medal. Well done to you all. Also worth a mention, a two on the 18th hole from Brian Milne on Saturday, there must be something in the Arbroath air!
Scoring was excellent on Saturday with 3 players tying for second place on two under par 68s, Mark Davidson, Jamie Blake and Don Barclay. Congratulations to Alex Cargill with a fantastic 66 to win the Grant Medal. |
| Alignment | I have been enjoying a wide variety of coaching recently, from full swing to pitching and also the odd putting lesson thrown in.
This recent putting lesson was a great example of how the little things can make such a difference. Alignment is very important in all shots but particularly when putting. Poor alignment causes a mixture of issues and for the above customer, he couldn't believe how far right he was aiming and when we laid down some alignment sticks it was very strange to him to be lined up correctly! |
| Set-up
| A little more subtle in this lesson but one key issue that was affecting strike was the customer's hand position. He was struggling to get a consistent strike and was most often catching the ground before the ball or hitting it thin. A little nudge off the hands to the left and suddenly the strikes dramatically improved.
Golf is hard enough without a coach making it any more difficult for you! I try to keep it simple with one or two body adjustments. Like I said, "It's the little things!" |
