Course news

Course Conditions

After a mixed bag of weather and another fairway mower, breakdown things have been looking a lot greener for this time of year than we would like. Thankfully the fairway mower is back fully operational and good to go, there is also some new machinery on its way to help Ally and the team continue to make the course look as good as possible.

The majority of the machinery that the team have is used on a constant basis due to the quick growth we have when the weather is warm and wet like it has been for the past few weeks so it is understandable there will be the odd breakdown from time to time.

Course Management - 15th Hole

We are working our way down the closing stretch and after two really tough holes in 13 and 14, we have a real birdie opportunity at 15.

At 355 yards from the Medal tee, the 15th isn’t a particularly long hole, however, there are 2 well-placed bunkers ready to catch out the aggressive play off the tee!

My advice for this hole is to play short of the bunkers which is a little over a 200 yard shot from the Medal tee, this will leave a short iron into a flat green which is shared with the second hole.

The green very well guarded by 3 pot bunkers, surprise, surprise!

So my advice for the second shot is to take an extra club to try and take those out of play. At the back of the green, there is an upslope which 9 times out of 10 the ball will roll back down. No putt is ever easy though as shown by one of our members earlier today whilst play a club match! Click here to watch that!

Sponsorship Opportunities

We are currently looking at different sponsorship avenues for the course and club and also myself. We have a few Tee Signs available on the course, there is space down at the Driving Range which would be excellent for a potential sponsor.

I have a top and bottom banner in my newsletter which can be used as a sponsor banner which reaches hundreds of people each week through email and into the thousands when liked and shared on social media. We are also in the process of putting together a new website which again would be a fantastic opportunity for advertising.

The simple shoe equation

Mathematics can be a complicated subject with all that pi, algebra and calculus floating around, but there is one simple equation we can all understand:

Let’s break down this equation further

The main problem here is that walking on hard ground for four hours/18 holes in the summer months can take its toll on our feet.

Blisters and bleeding are common signs that something isn't quite right and the issue will only be exasperated if your golf shoes are worn, cracking or ill-fitting.

Adjust to your surroundings

Driver adjustability has been a marketing buzz term for a number of years now, but how much of a difference will it really make to your game? Well, we decided to find out.

We could bamboozle you with tech speak when it comes to adjustability but there are two key ways in which today's drivers can be adjusted to suit your swing, making a custom fitting more important than ever before.

Perimeter weighting

The first is the ability to adjust weighting on the sole of the head to enhance flight characteristics or to promote a specific ball flight.

Hosel adjustability

The second is the ability to adjust loft and lie angles in the hosel.

Take Lynx's ultra-fast looking Black Cat driver for example. If you're launching your driver too low or high, hosel adjustability allows us to add or take away loft until we get the perfect launch conditions for your swing.
