Course news

No More Excuses

I am going to start this week off feeling a little like “Groundhog Day!!” Pitchmarks were the big moan and groan I received over the past week, it’s easy to use excuses like the ground is soft just now so it’s easy to miss them or the pins are up at the back of the green so it’s easy to miss the ones at the front but ultimately this is all a load of nonsense and there is no excuse for not repairing every pitchmark.

I have plenty pitchmark repairers in the shop if you don’t have one and I have put a short video below to show how correctly repair a pitchmark.

Fitting News

This past week I took delivery of the Callaway Epic Flash Fitting & Demo Clubs and already the feedback has been excellent.

The new Apex, Apex Pro & Big Bertha Iron Fitting Packs also arrived and are all available to demo or book in for a fitting.

This week I should take delivery of the new TaylorMade M5 & M6 Fitting & Demo products which I will let you all know about as soon as they arrive!

I am also waiting on the Cobra F9 Fitting & Demo products to arrive which should be any day now!!

Club news

The Magic 2's

The magic 2s were won this past Saturday by Doug Adam who scooped the £87 pot! There has now been a change to the way the Magic 2s will run, the entry is now £1 and instead of having to get 2 2s you only need 1 but on the selected hole for the day.

Sunday was the first effort at this format where the selected hole was the 4th and come Saturday the hole will be the 7th. My hope is that this format is fairer to all handicaps whilst still receiving a good pay out for your efforts!

Tour news

It was a 9th PGA Tour win for tour favourite Matt Kuchar, as he claimed victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Kuchar carded a final round of 66, finishing on -22, four shots clear of Andrew Putnam in second place. It wasn’t all plain sailing for Kuchar, with bogeys in three of his first five holes on Sunday, but a resurgent back-nine saw a comfortable win in the end.

It was Kuchar’s second win on tour this season, just 64 days after winning the Mayakoba Classic in November; a real change in fortunes, when you consider he had to wait four years between his seventh and eighth PGA Tour victories.

On the Ladies European Tour, England’s Charley Hull took a wire-to-wire triumph at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi, for her second win on tour. It was a real test of nerve at the finish, with Hull splashing out of a bunker on the 18th, before saving par with a great putt to give her the win by one stroke.
