Course update After an extremely wet Friday and Saturday the course held up fantastically. The decision to move the Captains Cup to Sunday was a good one and meant a much fuller field for one of the last competitions of the season. This week the Green Keeping Team will be beginning the aeration of the tees. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that there was seed applied to the greens. The pictures below lets you see the work of the seed, the idea is to produce better grass, called fescue. This is a fine leaf grass and ultimately makes the surfaces smoother, quicker and fills in the bare areas. This will help let air into the surfaces and take out some soil which will aid the surfaces moving forward to hopefully have a firm smooth teeing surface. Sadly winter isn’t too far away and the course will go onto mats from the 2nd of November. I’m sure many of you will already have a matt to use but if not I have ordered some so you can pick one up from the shop if needs be. |
