SImple, yet effective

This past week I have been out coaching on a few occasions, many of the lessons I cover simple yet effective parts of the setup, stance, posture and ball position. I regularly take my iPad out during lessons as this is an extremely effective way of showing a pupil what is going on in their setup position and also swing. The example I have put below shows the setup position at the start of the lesson and then the setup position at the end of the lesson.

These changes make a big impact to the balls starting position and ultimately where the ball ends up. Also this customer had his hands too far away from the ball which I felt was causing him to struggle fully releasing the club on the way through, we moved the ball position in a couple of inches and although it felt uncomfortable at first the strikes were quickly improving.

It is amazing over the years how many people I have come across who struggle to line up to their target correctly, myself included, you can make a great swing and hit it what you think is off line but in reality you are hitting it exactly where you are aiming, that is why alignment is so important. So the next time you step on the course take an extra few seconds to make sure you are aiming correctly.
