Course update We can call it “beast from the east”, “beast from the east part 2”, I’m not really into names like that all I know is snow fell and caused massively annoying disruption to golfers!! After another weekend of snow and golf course closures hopefully it is gone for this year and we can finally get golfing more regularly. It has been an extremely difficult time to say the least for the Greenkeeping Team and they are probably around 3 to 4 weeks behind where they would like to be in terms of course preparation for the start of the season. That being said we are now almost 100% fully open with only 3 Temporary Greens in play and that will hopefully improve as the days go on. Having spoken to the team the Course will go back onto full course next week in time for the Captain Vs Vice Captain on the 31st March. The Tees will go back onto the Full Main Tees, bunkers will be back in play and the 7th hole will be back to a single full length Par 5. The only hole that might be on a Temporary Green for opening day would be the 3rd. Due to lack of sunlight and any real temperature to speak of the green and area around the green is still both very wet and also rock solid in places. Hopefully this will improve over the next week to 10 days and we can start the season with a dry, freshly cut golf course! I will update when necessary through social media to keep you all up to date with the course conditions. Finally on course news there has been a lot of tidying up on all areas of the course over the past week and here are a few photos to let you see some of the work. |
