It only takes seconds!
Having been rather busy for the last five or six weeks I haven’t had the opportunity to play any golf, but thankfully last Thursday afternoon I managed to get out for six holes.
I was glad to see the course still in really good shape and surprisingly dry considering the amount of rain that has fallen! However, I was extremely disappointed in the amount of pitchmarks that were on every green I played. It is easy to blame visitors but it would be extremely naive to think that visitors are the cause of this and, even if they are to blame, there is no reason why we can’t repair pitchforks that aren’t ours!
The course this year has been in consistently good condition, the best in my four seasons at Glenrothes. The greens might not have been the quickest all year but they have generally been very smooth and good to putt on. Sadly if pitchmarks continue to go unrepaired they won’t be smooth for long.
It takes a matter of seconds to repair, so please the next time you are out playing repair any pitchmark you come across as it is for the benefit of everyone.
