Invitation Pairs Better Ball this Sunday, 20 August. Tee times are available between 9.30 - 2.30. Despite all the rain over the past few weeks the course is still in good shape so bring along a guest for the day and show them what Glenrothes Golf Club has to offer.

Air 2G2 Machine

With the recent wet weather the greenskeepers plan to use the Air 2G2 Machine.

The Air2G2 uses three probes to inject pressurized air at 6 inches and 12 inches beneath the surface of the soil, fracturing the compacted layers that form as a result of foot traffic, routine maintenance, and natural processes.

These lateral air injections loosen up compacted soil immediately, without any disruption to the surface of the turf. The Air2G2 can be used any day and any time, rain or shine, and does not require post aerification cleanup. The turf will be ready to use immediately following aerification!

 Course Management

A few weeks ago I talked about the burn on the back nine and how to try and take it out of play by laying up on each of the holes it comes into play. Having spoken to many of you over the last few weeks I have noticed how many of you have thought about this but by the time you reach those holes change your mind and revert to type!!

For me regardless of your score you should have a game plan and stick to it. If I am faced with a difficult shot or indecision I try to weigh up the options and come up with the option which has the highest percentage and also I am most comfortable with. I try to ignore what my fellow competitors are doing and stick to my own game. I think a perfect example of this is Zach Johnson at the Masters a few years ago when he won.

The entire 4 rounds he didn’t go for a par 5 in 2 but played them for the week in 11 under par! I’m not saying you can all score like Zach Johnson did that week but by playing your own game and playing to your strengths you have a far greater chance of consistently playing to your handicap or reducing it!
