Sunday the 18 of June was Club Championship Finals Day, there was plenty good golf on show from all the finalists and we couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise. The course is on superb condition right now so a big thank you the Greenkeeping Staff for all their hard work.
The winners of each Final were:

A reminder that all finalists are awarded a Club Logo sweater so pop into the shop to order your sweater. Well done to everyone who took part and all the best for the rest of the season.
Course Update
As already mentioned the course is in superb condition just now, but the hard work never stops! The Greenkeeping team are continually out cutting all areas and trying their best to keep the course tidy. A big reason why the greens are running so well just now is down to the mix of cutting, verti cutting and rolling/ironing.
We can all help keep the course tidy by doing the little things though, such as replacing divots and repairing pitch marks! I was out on the course this past week and as usual spent 2 to 3 minutes on virtually every green repairing pitch marks, many of which had clearly been made the same day.
Position over Power?!
A big part of my working week is being an "agony aunt" of sorts listening to your golfing woes! I here a lot of the same things particularly when players have completed their rounds and had a bad back 9. The common theme is the burn that runs throughout the back 9 coming into play on holes 11,12,13 and 18.
Quite often I hear how they just didn't quite catch their drive and ended up in the burn. When I ask what club they used the answer is almost always driver. So here is a thought next time you go onto the back 9 regardless of whether you have had a good, bad or indifferent I want you to leave the driver in the bag on those holes and hit a hybrid off the tee.
Play the hole as a 3 shot hole. In all likelihood you will have a stroke there so use it. After the tee shot use a mid-short iron as a layup then you will most likely have a short iron/ pitch into the green and still have a putt for par. Give it a go, whats the worst that could happen?!
I cover Lessons on all aspect of the game including on course Lessons. If you would like to improve your course management pop into the shop to book in for your on course playing lesson.
